Telepathology India is serious about helping you to reach a diagnosis in cases you think a second opinion or an expert opinion is required. However, the chances of giving you a correct interpretation depends entirely on the quality of the images you send to us. Optimising images is not very difficult and you can make intelligent use of softwares like Adobe Photoshop (see Tips on Optimising Images below). Please go through the few necessary points below, before you submit images:

1.You must be a member of this site (see Registration).

2.Make a short history of the patient along with all relevant data. Name may be withheld, and some sort of your own identification is enough. Age, Sex, Site of biopsy is essential. Your findings and your working diagnosis is a must. Your problems regarding the case should be highlighted in Comments. (See Checklist below).

3.The images of your case should have been saved in .jpg format. Images should be in different powers of magnification. It is not necessary to tell us the magnification of each image unless you think it is contributory. Include as many low power views of the case as possible. The number of the images may be as many as you think necessary. The best resolution for the images is 800x600 pixels, but if you find that uploading time is too long, you may consider a resolution of even 500x300.

4.Attach the images to the email with the relevant history as in (1) above, and send to

5.You should expect a reply to your mail within 24-48 hours

6. If you want a faxed report, you will have to pay for the administrative charges, which can be sorted out. Write to   for details.

TIPS ON OPTIMISING IMAGES:

1.Every capture device would have software to capture images at an optimum state. Basic colour and brightness, contrast, saturation and hue can be optimized during the process of capturing the images.

2.After capturing the image in .jpg format, open the file in Adobe Photoshop.

3.In Adobe Photoshop, use the Brightness and Contrast, and Sharpness, and adjust these to optimise your image.

>4. Try the Levels Menu. Go to Image Levels. The Histogram in the dialogue box shows how the colors of the image are distributed. The slider box beneath the histogram provides 3 triangles, one for each of the darkest, medium and lightest pixels of your image. To make the darkest pixels black, drag the left slider triangle to the right to the beginning of the histogram; and to make the lightest pixels white drag the right handed triangle to the left to the end of the histogram. Now move the middle triangle, known as the gamma point, to the left to make the medium colors lighter. Another menu in this Levels Dialogue box is the eyedropper icon. Click on the right (lightest) icon and then click on the area of your image, which should be white. This is known as White Balance, and instantly brightens up the image.
